Meet Ms. Wang, a vibrant woman in her fifties who, even after reaching retirement age, is constantly engaged in various social activities. Her cherished moments of leisure are spent at home, and she holds high expectations for its quality. With a desire to maximize every square meter of her space, the designer crafted the following designs based on her needs. Let's explore the surprises this households.
Creating a Space of Dual Purpose
Ms. Wang longed for a small study, so the designer cleverly used a glass screen to divide the living room, creating a dedicated area for her study while maintaining a dual-purpose house.
The large French windows flood the living room with natural light, ensuring a transparent and bright ambiance.
The study boasts a simple and stylish design, with the desk placed by the window to incorporate the beauty of natural light and the surrounding scenery.
A full-wall bookcase is built behind, providing enclosed storage for books and other items. Additionally, Ms. Wang chose to showcase her collectibles, complete with built-in lights.
On the other side of the living room, a sleek wall-mounted TV cabinet is created, meeting storage needs while exuding a sense of elegance. The suspended platform below facilitates easy cleaning, while the embedded light band adds a touch of luxury.
Kitchen + Island Combination
Redesigning the Workflow
The kitchen holds a special place in Ms. Wang's heart, fulfilling her desire to cook at home.
The kitchen and dining area are seamlessly integrated, allowing for more possibilities in daily life. The U-shaped layout of the kitchen creates a fluid workflow.
The island not only enhances the dining experience but also serves as an extension of the table, playing a role in dividing the living room.
The kitchen features a combination of wall cabinets and floor cabinets, along with an overhead cabinet where the range hood is discreetly incorporated. This modern design adds a touch of fashion while keeping the kitchen appliances hidden.
For those concerned about open kitchens and oil smoke, A Zhai offers advice: Ensure a high-power range hood and use cooking pots and pans that promote a healthier way of cooking. Adequate ventilation can be achieved through temporary folding doors or by considering induction cookers and gas stoves.
Master Bedroom with a 2m² Walk-in Closet
Flexibility and Practicality Combined
Ms. Wang found the balcony in the master bedroom less practical, so she transformed it into her dream walk-in closet.
Despite its modest size, the walk-in closet maximizes storage along the wall, featuring top cabinets and efficiently organized hanging, storage, and bag areas—all concealed behind sleek sliding doors.
Combining Two Baths into One
Embrace the Slow Life
In the bathroom, the wash area and toilet area are cleverly combined through the use of a hanging cabinet. The shower room incorporates both shower and bath functions, allowing for a harmonious blend of convenience and relaxation.
The light wood color complements the gray door panel with a stone texture, creating a modern and fashionable light luxury atmosphere. The color contrast, accentuated by hints of Hermes orange, truly brings the bathroom to life.
We are opening this July in Ortigas, Metro Manila!
